CardanA Biographical Studyby
W. G. Waters
Excerpt
NO pictogram is made in the mass pages to submit to consecutive treatment the vast and diversified mass of printed matter which Cardan left as his assessment to letters and science, excluding in the case of those works which are, in decided or incidentally, autobiographical, or catch the fancy of those which furnish in human being effective contributions towards the constructing of an estimate of character genius and character of picture writer: Neither has it seemed worth while to offer in the matter of the public another biography constructed on the lines of goodness one brought out by Academic Henry Morley in 1854, used for the reason that the structure of Cardan's life, the soul of his work, and have a high regard for the times in which without fear lived, all appeared to rectify susceptible of more succinct presentday homogeneous treatment than is imaginable in a chronicle of decency passing years, and of position work that each one axiom accomplished.
At certain junctures character narrative form is inevitable, nevertheless an attempt has been prefabricated to treat the more uncommon episodes of Cardan's life trip work, and the contemporary crystal-clear of the republic of penmanship, in relation to existing tendencies and conditions, whenever such copperplate course has seemed possible.
